Daylight Savings Time….do we still need this?
In a world that operates 24/7, it seems like DST is a thing of the past that does more harm than good.
Daylight Savings Time was introduced in 1895 and its initial reasoning was to make sunlight last further into the night so there would less use of lights. But the cons seem to outweigh the pros as DST causes problems with evening activities, farming, and of course the problem with keeping time.
A number of Americans found out they were late for appointments yesterday because their iPhone was off by 2 hours! It seems that some service providers got the time shift wrong and set their time back one hour instead of forward one hour.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the time change, not just because I lose an hour of sleep on my much earned weekend, but because it throws off my sleep patterns for at least the next week.
I say we do away with DST all together because really, what does it matter if the sun sets at 8:30pm instead of 9:30pm?
