The hours tick by as you watch episode after episode because you want to find out what happens next and before you know it, it’s 3 o’clock in the morning and you have to work in just a few hours! This is what happens when you buy the box set of television series’ on DVD!!
Most recently, I’ve started watching Lost on DVD and I find myself staying up way later than I should because after every episode, I want to find out what’s next and I know all I have to do is hit the “Next” button on the remote.
How did people watch television shows only one episode a week? Waiting a whole week just to find out what happened to the main character at the end of last week’s episode must have very stressful. But now with season sets of every show, usually only a half season behind, you can watch episodes back-to-back like it’s a movie AND… it’s all commercial free!!!
I have to admit, this is not the first time I’ve been sucked into watching season series’ on DVD until the wee hours of the morning. It’s happened to me with House, Heroes, and The OC! I can’t help it, it’s much easier for me to watch a television show like that because my schedule varies so much that I can’t set a time once a week on a specific day to sit and watch an episode. Then if you miss a week, you could be totally lost and if you miss enough weeks in a season, you say to yourself, “Screw it, I’ll buy it when it comes out!”
So my question is what will happen to prime time television shows now that people can simple by the season 6 months later and watch it on their own terms and it’s only about 40 minutes and episode so you can watch 3 episodes in two hours! For me, I don’t care if people know what happens before I’ve seen it, just as long as they don’t give things about the show away!
What shows do you HAVE to watch weekly during the current season and which series do you buy on DVD to watch later?
