The question this week is whether or not we will have a white Christmas or not. If the weather cooperates and does as predicted, we’ll get some snow on Christmas Eve and more on Christmas day. But it all depend on the individual whether they want a white Christmas or not.
I am a traveler on Christmas, driving down to my hometown of Hagersville in the afternoon of the day before Christmas, so a white Christmas doesn’t really interest me at this point. I guess that can be said for a lot of travelers on Christmas. It’s much better to have favourable weather in order to get to their families safe and sound, even though it may not look like Christmas.
But does having a “green” Christmas make it not “feel” like Christmas?
I’ve been reading a lot of posts on Facebook and Twitter asking for there to be a white Christmas because then it would “feel” like Christmas. I think that it feels like Christmas no matter the weather or what form of precipitation in on the ground. The “feeling” of Christmas to me is being with family and sharing in each other’s company.
So do I wish it will snow this week so we can have a white Christmas? No. I do wish that everyone gets the opportunity to spend at least a couple of days with family and that if anyone is travelling that they get their safe and sound.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And to those who don’t celebrate in the same way as I do, may you have a safe and happy holiday season.
